Translation/Interpretation Services Background Information Berlitz is the world's oldest and largest organization devoted to interpretation, translation and language instruction services. With more than 400 locations worldwide, each individual Center can rely on the resources and support of our colleagues throughout the United States and the world. Berlitz has a database of more than 5,000 interpreters, representing more than 150 languages. Location and Organization The Charleston Berlitz Language Center is the only Berlitz Center in South Carolina. It was established in March of 1997. Since this time, it has provided numerous interpretation and translation services in the Charleston, Columbia and Greenville areas. Our clients include The Department of Social Services (DSS), The Office of Hearing and Appeals (OHA), numerous attorneys, private companies and other government agencies. All of our interpreters and translators are fluent in their native language and English. We provide interpreters and translators who have experience with the subject matter they translate, therefore ensuring both linguistic and technical accuracy. All documents are certified and notarized to bind them legally. Our employees go through a 3 step application process: 1. Screening - Berlitz interviews all potential new translators and interpreters to evaluate their poise and professional demeanor and to assess their professional skills, training and experience. 2. Testing - Berlitz translators and interpreters must pass a bilingual exam. This test evaluates the translator/interpreter on many levels, including fluency in both languages (English and their native language), interpreting competence and knowledge of subject. 3. Evaluation - Berlitz regularly evaluates interpreter performance through client feedback and random monitoring of on?site appearances. Pricing and Turnaround Time With each translation
or interpretation, we will provide you with a "project
specific" cost proposal. Document translations are completed
efficiently. Turn around times depend on the length of the document
and your time constraints. Interpreters can be scheduled for
a deposition or court appearance with a 24 hour notice.
